A commercial project creating a Tree-top Walkway experience for Palacerigg Country Park, Cumbernauld
With a large woodland deck entrance and leading upwards into the tree canopy to a suspended 'floating' Tree-Deck wrapping some big pines. Palacerigg Country Park wished to broaden visitor enjoyment of the woodland, develop a passive way to educate regarding this unique habitat and enhance family appreciation of the location. The strategy was to create a woodland attraction that has no impact to a natural environment, takes a new and added-value 'customer' into the tree canopy to join and view all that lives there, through all seasons in a way that is soft, quiet and inspiring.
The whole Tree-top Walkway experience is intended as a peaceful, quiet leisure activity within a woodland setting. Designed and intended for low noise, zero impact within the woodland and principally as a new and unique way in which to observe and interact with the birds, trees and woodland fauna. It is an educational and leisure experience for the whole family within the tree canopy habitat to be used by children, adults and supervised children, also educational groups under supervision. It is NOT an active system such as 'Go Ape' or a high ropes course and does not require any specific instruction other than safety guidance and the requirement of adult supervision of children at all times.
